The Red Delicious apple has a moderate size, and is conical in appearance, with a rounded top and conical bottom part. Its rather thick skin is dark red with white dots while its flesh is cream-colored, crisp, and juicy with a mild sweet taste.

The Red Delicious is a convenient choice for fresh eating, using in recipes like salads, food decoration, or preparing apple juice. The flesh of this type of apple does not maintain its shape after being cooked, and can easily be crushed. Thus, it can be used for making purée, sauce, soup, and similar foods.

Storage
Storing this type requires cold storage facilities; otherwise, the flesh soon becomes floury and loses its water.  The Red Delicious apples can be stored for 8 months or more at commercial cold storage facilities.
